The bridal services market is jam packed with offers these days, and whilst on one hand it’s not at all a bad thing to have something to choose from, on the other it’s easier than ever to stumble into amateurs offering mediocre quality services.
Just 10 years ago the number of makeup artists, photographers and hair stylists who offered bridal services was very small. Today, just glancing at any social network can give you a serious headache by the quantity of “professionals” offering their services.

Unfortunately these days the presence of a diploma in the makeup industry does not guarantee the quality of services. With the industry and popularity of being a MUA growing, so does the number of cheap 1-day courses, leaving us guessing about the quality of this education.

So how do you choose the make up artist to whom you will entrust your face on the most important day of your life?
Here are a few things you can do to get you onto the right track:
1. First and foremost, check the MUA’s portfolio. The photos should be in high resolution, so that you have a clear picture of how your makeup will look on your professional wedding photos.
2. If the MUA has a testimonials page on their website – read it through.
And do not miss their social page comments, as that’s where the most genuine and strong felt feedback usually goes!
3. Read their Bio. The more years in industry the better! An experienced MUA would have worked with hundreds or even thousands of faces, and will straight away know what type of make up look best on you!
4. Don’t be shy to ask what products the MUA uses. A true professional will never save on quality!
5. Do a trial. This step will help you figure out a few things at the same time. Will you be happy with the service? How long will the makeup look fresh and how will it look on photos? Are you happy with the approach of the MUA to you as the client? Which takes us to the last point:
